I’m not sure who is going to be the final editor of this newspaper (Not gonna be me) so I can’t say yay or nay on any articles, however, I don’t see how an article about corporate greed (even in small things like price gouging) wouldn’t fit in.

Sounds like greed, walks like greed, must be greed! I say go for it, but expand it into multiple…[Read more]

Sorry, the confusion is my fault, since I didn’t post this under the topic that was already created in relation to the newspaper. The general idea is an Occupy newspaper, with stories being.. not necessarily related to Occupy itself, but things of a political nature, that Occupiers would care about. Some of it would be on a large scale, some of…[Read more]

Also! I Know we had a few folks who had mentioned that they had publisher. We need to see if those folks are available to help with the newspaper. Essentially doing the layout for us, and…. well we’re not sure what else yet beyond that. Possibly just the layout. If someone (who isn’t already over burdened with other obligations) has publisher,…[Read more]

Also, I went and created a photobucket page just for art submissions to the newspaper. While posting the username and password here is the opposite of secure, I figure if everyone retains a copy of anything they submit, we’ll never actually lose anything.

This is for anyone in Occupy to submit artwork to for the newspaper.…[Read more]

I messaged the link to Matthew, he’s gonna try to take some time tomorrow to add any of his he thinks are a good fit. His concern was that some of his stuff was dated. I told him I figured that, even dated, it was still relevant. He had a couple that were directly related to specific incidents. He may try editing those so that they fit a broader…[Read more]

    • Awesome, thank you Doc. Now just need to copypasta Matthew’s stuff on their as well as any other articles and begin the process of editing. I also bolded the titles and author’s names so that it was a bit easier to find the beginning of an article.

Canvassing is simply the act of going door to door in a specific area. Covering that area in it’s entirety. Like a canvas cloth covering the entirety of a table. That was the best I could come up with on short notice ;)

SE is the South East area of Roanoke (it’s a section of the city).

January 21st we’re going to be canvassing SE, I’m not sure where in SE yet, or how many blocks we hope to cover (that’ll depend on how many people volunteer). We’re planning on going out, door to door, saying just a tiny bit about us, but asking the people we talk to what their specific issues are, inviting them to give us their ideas, and…[Read more]

    I come bearing questions!

Daniel Gardner, the gentleman who has been filming much of our activity at the rallies, recently got in contact with me. He is capable of doing the…[Read more]

I am a total spaz. Usually I never turn my computer off. At most I put it in hibernate. So certain windows are always open and being checked. We had a great meeting today. Got a ton done today. We’ve finalized the plans for the Holiday Feast on the 31st. There should be fliers before too long. Still need tons of people for bringing food stuff. We have people volunteering to bring invitations to the police stations and hospitals, and firehouses.

The fliers should be ready for printing…[Read more]

Dave G suggested doing it as a luncheon, and I think that’s the best idea I’ve heard so far. Of course, so far I haven’t heard many. It sounds like Matt F is going to be bringing a chowder, and I’ve put myself down for some cheesy bacon mashed taters.

Dave also suggested we go ahead and send invites directly to the police and fire stations, so any of them out and about will know they can come by. I thought that was a great idea, in addition to doing the fliers discussed, as well as putting the event in the paper.
